Constructing and Memorising a speech

Construction

Of course this topic is a large one, and books are devoted to it's discussion.

When I make a speech I find that using a diagrammatic method such as in RecallPlus, good for initially putting together the key points. Put different points in different boxes.
Use the 'Options'--> 'Preferences' box to turn 'Auto Add invisible connects' on and turn off the 'Automatic Join last textbox to New'
This will allow you to work freely without the connects on the screen.

If you have the time, construct these points over several days so that you have the chance to look at it from a few points of view.

Next find the 3 key points that you wish to get across.

Make sure you refer to these throughout your speech and especially make them clear at the START and FINISH.
Try to work out where you are going to involve your audience with techniques such as:-
1. Story telling.
2. Asking them questions.
3. Looking at and describing their problems from their point of view.

Once you have all of your points and have filled in the details, use RecallPlus or some other diagramatic method for arranging them logically.
Once again check your 3 points are reinforced at the start and the finish.

Memorisation and Finalisation

Use the 'Options'--> 'Preferences' box to turn back off 'Auto Add invisible connects' on and turn on the 'Automatic Join last textbox to New'
Right click on the background of the screen and select 'Connects Visible' and then 'Yes'

Now you can arrange the connects to reflect the order in which you wish to 'Associate' the points in the speech with each other.
1. Pick out some key words for each section of the speech.

2. Use an associative method such as the Journey Method or a second choice would be the Story Method for anchoring your speech in a specific order.
Make sure you create an interesting Memory Masterpiece to associate each piece of information with each 'peg' in your journey if you are using the journey method.

3. Don't forget to revise your speech a couple of times before you give it.
Use RecallPlus to optimise the times you do this for maximum retention.

4. Make sure you practice also getting your 'attitude' right for the speech.
Remember:
a) When you walk in front of your audience the first few seconds are worth putting an effort into... smile, get into a state of mind where you look around genuinely interested in THEM!
b) Add feeling into the way you talk about the topic... make sure they really know that you believe in what you are talking about.
c) Incorporate what your audience have given you if you gave them the chance to talk, into your subsequent discussion.
